Opening hours schema that matches the door and the profile
Hours markup is helpful when it repeats the hours a customer can check on the page. Conflicting hours are a local trust problem, not a rich-result trophy.
Publish one set of hours on the page, in the schema, and on the Business Profile, including the holidays you close.
Put the hours in visible text first
The location page should state the weekly hours and any appointment rule in sentences or a simple table. Schema should be generated from those same fields.
Hong Kong public holidays are not a footnote. If you close for a festival, the page and the Business Profile should both say so before the weekend.
Use valid day and time values
OpeningHoursSpecification needs real days and opening and closing times. A 24-hour claim you do not keep will be quoted. Do not mark a showroom as always open because the schema example did.
If hours differ by service — clinic versus shop — say which schedule the markup describes. One block that blends two counters is how people arrive at a shutter.
- Visible hours and schema from the same source.
- Holiday exceptions written down.
- No 24/7 markup unless it is true.
Check the profile after the page
Maps often displays Business Profile hours rather than your schema. If those disagree, fix the profile. Schema cannot override a wrong pin-side clock.
Validate the location template whenever a redesign touches the hours component. Broken JSON-LD here is usually a broken template, not a one-page typo.
Questions
Does opening-hours schema improve map rankings?
It clarifies hours for pages that earn rich results. Map rankings depend more on the Business Profile hours, proximity, and relevance. The sets should still match.
What if hours change every week?
Say that appointments are required, and keep a maintained note. Do not publish a fixed schema schedule you do not intend to keep.
