AI answers for local businesses: the profile and the page must agree
When someone asks an answer engine for a nearby provider, the reply compresses your profile, your site, and whatever directories still disagree.
Local AI answers stay accurate when every public source states the same entrance, hours, and service.
Ask the local question the way a customer would
Prompt for the service plus the district, in English and Traditional Chinese. Note whether the answer names you, names a competitor, or states a wrong address for you.
If the spoken answer sends people to an old floor, the model found that floor somewhere. Find the listing and fix it.
Write a local passage that can be quoted safely
On the branch page, state the service, the tower and floor, the hours, and who the branch is for, in one short section. That is the passage you want summarised.
Do not leave the only copy of the address inside an image or a map widget. Text survives compression. Pins do not always travel with the paragraph.
- Test district-level prompts.
- Address in text on the branch page.
- Directories updated to the same facts.
Correct the blend
AI tools blend branches. If you have two addresses, label each page so a summary cannot merge the hours of one with the entrance of the other.
Recheck the prompt after the sources change. Local hallucinations linger in directories longer than on your own site.
Questions
Can a local business be cited by AI without a blog?
Yes. A clear branch page and a consistent profile are more useful than a blog that never states the address.
What is the most common local hallucination?
An old address or the wrong branch’s hours. Both come from inconsistent listings more often than from a model inventing a street.
