Local pack ranking: the three maps results above the links

The local pack is a proximity, relevance, and prominence problem. You will not appear for every district if you only have one real location.

Local pack visibility follows a truthful profile, a matching landing page, and a realistic sense of proximity.

See the pack the searcher sees

The pack changes with the searcher’s location. Check from the district you care about, or set the area in the tool you trust, instead of assuming a Central result is the Hong Kong result.

Note whether you are absent, present but with the wrong category, or losing to businesses that are simply closer to the query.

Work on relevance before you chase pins

The profile category, the landing page, and the reviews should describe the same service. A page about a different offer, linked from the profile, makes the pack listing feel like a mismatch.

Prominence comes from a real web footprint: mentions, links, and reviews you did not invent. Buying a ring of fake reviews is a way to lose the profile.

  • Test from the relevant district.
  • Match category, page, and reviews.
  • Do not expect one address to own every neighbourhood.

Send the pack to a page that continues the answer

The website link should open on hours, service area, and the next step. A homepage that never mentions the visit is a wasted click from the map.

If you do not have a public location, be honest in the profile and put the service area on the page. Pretending to have a shop in a mall you do not occupy is how listings get suspended.

Questions

Can you rank in the local pack without a physical store?

Service-area businesses can, within the rules of the profile and only for areas they truly serve. A fake address is not a strategy.

Why does the pack differ between two districts?

Proximity is part of the result. A business in Sham Shui Po should not expect the same pack placement for a searcher in Stanley.
