Answer engine optimization: structure pages as answers, not as slogans
Answer engine optimization is the habit of matching a page to a question a system is trying to close. The page still has to be worth reading after the first sentence.
Answer engine optimization means each important section closes one question and points to the next.
Start from the question, not the campaign line
Write the question as a person would type it, including the Hong Kong context if that changes the answer. The H1 or the first H2 should be recognisable as that question.
A slogan can stay in the design. It cannot be the only sentence that says what you do. Answer engines do not cite taglines reliably because taglines are not facts.
Use a repeatable answer shape
Definition, who it is for, what it excludes, and the next step. That shape works for service explanations and for technical notes. It gives a model four passages with four jobs.
Mark the edges. ‘This applies to English and Traditional Chinese sites aimed at Hong Kong customers’ is more citable than ‘this applies to businesses’.
- Question in the heading.
- Answer in the first paragraph.
- An explicit limit or exclusion.
Connect answers instead of repeating them
If the next question needs a different page, link to it by name. A cluster of answers is more useful than one page that repeats itself to cover every phrasing.
Review the answers when the product changes. An answer engine will keep quoting the old step until the source, and the copies of the source, move on.
Questions
Is answer engine optimization the same as featured snippets?
They overlap. Snippets are one Google surface. Answer engines also include AI Overviews and third-party chat tools that cite the open web.
Do you need special markup for AEO?
No special AEO tag exists. Clear headings, visible facts, and ordinary schema that matches the page are enough structure.
